We have pioneered the development of an acrylic thermoset, AQUASET™, specifically designed to replace formaldehyde-based resins traditionally used to bond mineral-wool fibers. These new thermoset binders have a high relevance for both building insulation markets, as well as for a wide range of industrial applications.

Importantly, this technology represents an environmentally attractive alternative because of the ultra-low emission of pollutants in the manufacturing process. Against a backdrop of increasing health and safety concerns surrounding the use of formaldehyde in the manufacturing process, this is of benefit to manufacturers, installers and home owners alike.

When used in the manufacturing of insulation materials, AQUASET™ technology offers excellent product runnability as well as storage stability of the end material. It can impart a softer feel to the end-material which may reduce skin irritation for the installer. In addition, it allows manufacturers to produce insulation material with a distinctive white color.
