Paraloid™ Modifiers: Imagine the Possibilities By Bahar Azimipour, Ph. D. The plastic industry’s move toward PLA has been hampered by unmodified PLA being somewhat weaker and more brittle than traditional materials. This paper reviews how Rohm and Haas’ Paraloid additives enable Polylactic acid fulfill the requirements for processing and performance in various applications Biography: Dr. Bahar Azimpour Dr. Azimipour has a Ph.D. from Louis Pasteur University, France, in Physical Chemistry of Polymers. She held positions as Application Development Scientist at Advanced Elastomer Systems (Belgium) and Arkema (US) before joining Rohm and Haas in 2005. She is currently responsible for developments in the bioplastics field in the Packaging and Building materials at Rohm and Haas.
