A Water Borne Acrylic Binder for Industrial Furniture Lacquers with Unique Properties

Abstract:

The challenge for the furniture industry today is to answer to the EEC Directive on the limitation of emission of volatile organic compounds whilst maintaining high coatings performance and a competitive market price. To meet this challenge, a water borne acrylic binder with excellent chemical resistance, outstanding blocking resistance and favourable price performance has been developed. The importance of the choice of the raw materials when formulating the lacquer to maintain the excellent properties in the final product will be discussed.

Presenters Biography:

Jörgen Lindholm, FINNDISP, Rohm and Haas
Jörgen graduated in 1995 from the Chemical Technical Faculty at Åbo Akademi University, Turku Finland, with an M.Sc. degree in technical polymer chemistry. He worked at Ciba Specialty Chemicals (former Raisio Chemicals) as development manager for paper coating binders. Since 2006 he has worked as Project and Laboratory Manager R&D and Technical Service, at Rohm and Haas Finland Oy.
