Not Just an Improvement: An Entirely New Technology | back |
Produce More Cellular PVC with Big Cost Savings - Compared to existing manufacturing techniques, new Paraloid™ SureCel™ saves 10 to 15 percent on raw material consumption.
| Conventional Compound | Paraloid SureCel compound | Density of trim board (g/cc) | 0.58 | 0.50 | 0.52 | Pounds of compound needed for 6.6mm FBM ofTrim board | 20mm | 17.2 | 17.9 | RM cost | $13.9mm | $12.8mm | $13.2mm | | |
Lower Density, Superior Cell Uniformity, Top Performance - Paraloid™ SureCel™ produces a lower density cellular PVC with the same excellent product performance you would expect from higher density PVC. Rohm and Haas reports superior uniformity across wide sheet dies with fewer voids and greater resistance to cell collapse, as well.
Traditional foam process aid | Paraloid™ Surecel™ foam stabilizer | | Greater Resistance to Void Formation, Higher Gas Containment Limit |
Greater Resistance to Void Formation - Paraloid™ SureCel™ lends more resistance to voids when achieving densities in the 0.5 g/cc range. Actual cell structure demonstrates this, as does gas containment limit (GCL) when charted as a change of slope in density versus blowing agent plots.

Thicker Sheets, New and Better Options - Paraloid™ SureCel™ is the only technology to enable production of thicker gauge sheet putting the 1.5 inch goal in reach for the first time. The breakthrough technology achieves this result through reduced cell collapse with increased expansion. This unique new ability presents exciting opportunities for millwork and other molded product applications, since it can eliminate time-consuming lamination of multiple, thinner gauge sheets for some products.
 | | * In a comparison test between a traditional foam process aid and Paraloid™ Surecel™ foam stabilizer, the gap in the roll stack was kept constant at one inch. The blowing agent level was fixed for both systems and the puller speed was slowed as a way of increasing thickness. |
