As the pioneers of acrylic water-based chemistry, Rohm and Haas has taken its cutting-edge technologies and applied them wood stains. While many within the industry doubted that a true alternative to oil-based stains could be developed, we rose to the challenge and delivered impressive results.

Our emulsion polymers enable water-based wood stains to either match or out-perform oil-based solutions. They exhibit very good durability and lapping properties, as well as excellent color uniformity and retention.

While the demonstrated performance properties are on par, water-based stains display differentiation through superior convenience and ease-of-handling. Most importantly, Rohm and Haas polymers enable these stains to meet even the toughest VOC standards, which is something oil-based stains cannot even come close to doing.
