What We Make
Rohm and Haas Company is a
global specialty chemical company with leadership
positions in adhesives, specialty coatings,
electronic materials, and salt. We
employ 16,500 people in countries around
the world. Sales totaled $7.9 billion
in 2005.
Rohm and Haas Company purchased
the Philadelphia Plant in 1920 from Charles
Lenning and Company, one of the oldest chemical
manufacturers in the U.S. at that time. Today,
the facility creates two main products for
our Performance Chemical business. These
products are part of a variety of finished
materials. First, we are the worldwide
supplier of the Ion Exchange Resins (copolymer);
this is a uniform bead size copolymer. Second,
an herbicide called Goal® is produced
for pre-emergence and/or post-emergence control
of certain annual broadleaf and grassy weeds. Goal® Toll
Production is completed for Dow AgroSciences.
Rohm and Haas owns a total of 68 acres at
the Philadelphia Plant. The site also
employs approximately 75 people.
