Rohm and Haas Company
is a global specialty chemical company
with leadership positions
in adhesives, specialty coatings, electronic materials, and
salt. It employs 16,500 people in countries around the world.
It had sales of $7.9 billion in 2005.
Rohm and Haas Company has operated
in Bristol since 1919. It is the company's
first manufacturing facility. Today, it creates
products for its
Architectural and Functional Coatings business. These
products are part of a variety of finished
materials. Examples
include interior and exterior paints, paper
coatings, floor polishes, adhesives, roof
coatings, and caulks.
Rohm
and Haas owns 880 acres, zoned heavy industrial
in Bristol Township and Bristol Borough;
approximately 200 of those acres are developed. The
site employs approximately 250 people in
two manufacturing units and 175 people at
its Engineering Division.
Arkema, Inc., an independent company, operates an acrylic
resins manufacturing operation on the property. Arkema purchased
this business from Rohm and Haas Company in 1998.
The Bridge Business Center, also located
within the complex off Route 413, now hosts a corporate
center for companies undertaking research and development,
warehouse, light manufacturing and retail commerce. A
number of these buildings are managed by Preferred Real
Estate. The Center now hosts a number of tenants in an
industrial park type-setting.
Rhodia Inc. relocated to the Bridge Business
Center in late 2005. Approximately 100 Rhodia scientists
and technicians conduct chemical research, development,
and applications projects for diverse sectors such as consumer
products, agricultural and industrial markets. |
