Junior Achievement

Cincinnati, Ohio
Averaging over 10 Rohm and Haas employee volunteers per year, the Rohm and Haas Cincinnati facility is a significant partner with Junior Achievement in the Cincinnati area and Reading community. Employee volunteers spread their time across three different schools including two elementary schools in Reading and the Wyoming Middle School.

Delaware Valley (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania region)
In 1997, Rohm and Haas renewed its commitment to JA in the Philadelphia region to become one of the largest corporate providers of classroom volunteers for the Delaware Valley chapter by recruiting employees from the Corporate Office in Philadelphia, Bristol Complex, Spring House Technical Center and Philadelphia plant sites.

In recent school years, as many as 150 JA classrooms in the Philadelphia area were taught by Rohm and Haas employee volunteers. Relationships with the nearby South Jersey and Delaware state chapters were also established to extend Rohm and Haas’s regional JA impact across state lines.

Tom Archibald, Vice President, Director of Operations and Manufacturing, is past-President of the Board of Directors for JA of Delaware Valley, Inc. and remains an active and influential member.

Houston, Texas
Since 1995, Houston’s employee-driven program has been filling nearly a dozen JA classrooms at San Jacinto Elementary School. The Rohm and Haas site also donates thousands of dollars to the local JA chapter through a corporate grant and Bowl-a-thon participation.

Louisville, Kentucky
Nearly 20 Rohm and Haas employees teach JA in Louisville-area schools, serve on the Board of Directors, and volunteer for the Kentuckiana chapter’s annual Bowl-a-thon, often earning recognition as top fundraisers. Other employees volunteered through JA’s KidXecs shadowing program, inviting students to follow them through their workday for an executive experience.

Newark, Delaware
CMP Technologies, a subsidiary of Rohm and Haas, has supported the JA of Delaware chapter for nearly 10 years. Foremost among its sponsorship is the annual ‘Battle of the Titans’, which simulates the highly competitive business environment. Students weigh decisions about price, production, capital investment, research and development, and marketing, and carefully consider their impact on potential layoffs, excessive credit lines and tax rates. CMP Technologies also supports JA through corporate donations, volunteers for classroom instruction and Job Shadowing Day, and participation in the Bowlaganza and 5K Reedy Point Run fundraisers.

West Hill, Ontario, Canada
For 5 years, the West Hill facility has dispatched a dozen of its employees to volunteer as JA Consultants in classrooms at 3 area schools.
