| NAR Employee Volunteering Initiated Grants Rohm and Haas makes a number of employee-driven grants that extend the reach and focus of its philanthropy by supporting organizations that are of particular interest to its employees. This special category of grants provides financial support to a range of health and human services and cultural organizations that serve Rohm and Haas employees in the communities where they live.
Dollars for Doers
Established in 1987, Dollars for Doers supports employee community service activities by issuing grants - ranging from $250 to $500 - in an employee’s name to the organization where they volunteer. Any Rohm and Haas employee who
volunteers a minimum of 10 hours in any given year with a single organization is eligible for a grant. Grant awards are determined by the number of hours per year the employee volunteers with the organization(s).
To be eligible for grants, organizations located in the United States or one of its possessions must be recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax exempt and designated a public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code.
Team Doers
Established in 2000, the Team Doers Program applauds employee community service activities by issuing grants - ranging from $500 to $5000 - to non-profit organizations in support of a team-based event. Any team of at least 10 Rohm and Haas employees that volunteers for a fundraising event hosted by an organization is eligible for a grant. Grant awards are based on the total number of full- and part-time employees of Rohm and Haas and its majority owned subsidiaries who participate in an event. Rohm and Haas retirees and employees' family or friends may also be team members, but cannot be counted in the grant calculation. All organizations located in the United States or one of its possessions must be recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax exempt and designated a public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code or as a purely public institution under 170(c)(1).
To promote their own professional team-building and to help raise money for their communities, employee volunteers from organizations within the company raise more funds through the Rohm and Haas Team Doers program.
United Way
Rohm and Haas has a long tradition of supporting United Way chapters in its host communities. In most of those communities, the Company’s United Way gift is the single largest corporate contribution directed to health and human services programming and causes. Company gifts at each operating facility are based on a per-employee dollar amount, determined by that facility. United Way employee campaigns raise direct donations from employees for the local United Way chapter. Annually, employees in the United States raise more than $1.5 million.
