Step 1: Fields of Interest
Rohm and Haas Company provides support in five key philanthropic categories: including Education, Environment, Civic and Community, Health and Human Services and Arts and Culture. To support the corporate giving mission and values, the Rohm and Haas Corporate Contributions program seeks requests in the following strategic priorities within each philanthropic category.

Education
The Rohm and Haas Responsible Neighbor program focuses largely on K-12 science (including environmental science), technology and math education. Rohm and Haas believes that its resources can best impact youth and inspire them in these fields by supporting:

Professional development of teachers in math, science, the environment and technology

Programs linking education in science, technology and math to workplace and career opportunities

Educational enrichment for students, particularly in the areas of math, science, technology and the environment either during or after school hours (including weekends, summer and other times when school is not in session). While programs can and should encourage imagination, inquisitiveness, creativity and invention, the activities should be structured

Rohm and Haas also believes that it is important to support universities engaged in community pre-college programs and outreach to increase the pool of talented students interested in chemistry, engineering or business. Equally, Rohm and Haas understands the need to support students at the undergraduate and graduate levels majoring in chemistry or business as they pursue research and career opportunities in the chemical and specialty materials industry.

In conjunction with the Rohm and Haas University Relations Department, the Rohm and Haas Responsible Neighbor contributions program will consider proposals from colleges and universities in the United States that incorporate the Responsible Neighbor education funding priorities listed above, help to advance the Company diversity objectives and that meet the following additional criteria:

1. Rohm and Haas has a strong relationship with the United States based university as determined by

active recruitment from at least one or more departments or schools within the university

current alumni working for the company

a history or current status of research partnerships

2. Rohm and Haas has an operating facility in fairly close proximity, approximately within a two hour drive

Environment:

After-school programs that build environmental awareness and understanding

Sustainability programs that educate and promote development that meets the needs of the present society without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Building on the Company’s commitment to the practices of Responsible Care®, Rohm and Haas seeks proposals within this focus area that will educate and inform youth and their families about:

- Pollution prevention and Waste management
- Environmental conservation and Biodiversity
- Energy and Water conservation
- Community beautification
