Here, you’ll find a complete overview of our deadlines and procedures, as well as an online application form and instructions for identifying the Rohm and Haas location that is
most appropriate for directing your request.

Again, PLEASE review the first 3 steps of the Guidelines before moving on to the application steps 4-6.

Step 4: Funding Criteria

Does the request address a critical need in a Rohm and Haas host community?

How does the request impact the Company’s key objectives, including:

- Future growth (new markets, new technologies)?
- Profitable growth and earnings?
- Employee recruitment, retention and development?
- Sustainability?
- Diversity?

How can the request:
- Strengthen relations with key stakeholders (host communities, customers, employees, shareholders)?
- Improve the Company’s image, reputation and visibility in its host communities?
- Build cross-sector (public/private) relationships?

Are Rohm and Haas employees interested and involved in the proposed program or request?

Does the request impact Rohm and Haas priorities in one or more of the Company’s key areas of funding (education, environment, civic and community, health and human services, arts and culture)?

Are Rohm and Haas products a part of the request, or can they be?

Does the requesting program/organization have broad-based community support?

Does the requesting program/organization have a diversity of other funders (i.e. corporate, foundation and individual)

Step 5: Funding Exclusions (list may not be comprehensive)
As a matter of policy, the Company does not support:

Organizations that do not have IRS 501 (c) (3) non–profit tax exempt status.

Multiple grants to an organization in a single year.

United Way-funded agencies. As a supportive leader of the United Way in each of its host communities, Rohm and Haas does not typically provide additional funding to United Way member or affiliate organizations.

Capital Campaigns. Exceptions may be made if an organization’s core program is dependent on new or renovated facilities, if the capital project is intended to help the organization increase its earned income, and/or when the project has significant impact on Rohm and Haas employees and their families as well as the general community.

National organizations including national health funds. Exceptions may be made for organizations in or directly serving a Rohm and Haas host community.

Indefinite contributions. In the event an exception is made for a multi-year pledge, the Company retains the right to terminate support.

Telephone solicitations.

Fundraising events. Support for such programs can be provided through the Company’s Team Doers programs.

Religious organizations. Exceptions include programs or organizations that support the entire community on a nonsectarian basis.

Exhibitions, performances, productions or events. Exceptions include those activities that are part of an ongoing project or program that receives funding.

Veterans, labor and fraternal organizations.

Sports federations.

Entertainment groups.

Organizations requesting goodwill advertising.

Endowment funds.

Individuals.

Political parties or candidates for public office.

Scholarship support other than Rohm and Haas sponsored scholarships.

Organizations that discriminate based on age, race, religion, color, gender, disability, national origin, ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation or veteran status.

Step 6: Application and Procedure

Deadlines
Applications are accepted and evaluated year-round.

Procedures
Requests for charitable support should be made to the Rohm and Haas facility most proximate to the requesting organization’s geographic location or service area.

Applicants located in or providing services in the City of Philadelphia, PA should apply using the online application form. Please see directions for establishing an online account below.

U.S. applicants (including applicants outside of Philadelphia, PA, but within the 8-county Delaware Valley region):

  1. Identify the Rohm and Haas facility most proximate to the organization.
  2. Download and complete the application in one of the formats below:
    - Microsoft Word document
   

- PDF file

       Download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the pdf.
  3. Mail completed application to the site manager of the appropriate facility.
  4. Include a copy of the organization’s IRS tax-exempt identification letter.

Applicants for organizations or activities outside of the United States:

  1. Identify the Rohm and Haas facility most proximate to the organization.
  2. Mail a letter of request to the site manager of the appropriate facility
  3. Where country or local regulations provide for charitable status, please include appropriate documentation


Online Application Form

A Federal IRS tax-exempt identification number is required to complete the online application form. Online applications will receive careful consideration by the Public Relations Department in Philadelphia. If the application is complete and no additional information is required, a decision regarding a request will generally be made within 8 weeks of submission.

Online applications will only be considered once a form has been submitted in completion. Nonprofit organizations may establish an online account to save partial applications for later completion and submission. Applicants will receive confirmation of their transmittal via email, therefore a valid email address must be provided.
