2010 World Water Day Video Challenge (Grades 6-8)
This contest is open to students grades six through eight in Twin Cities’ area public, private and home schools. In a three-minute video essay, participants should explain how the issue of water scarcity can be resolved or attempted to be resolved. The topic of the essay is, “Water Quality Challenges and Opportunities.” Essays over three minutes will not be eligible for this contest.

Eligibility and Submission: Video Challenge
- To enter, create your video essay and upload your video file to You Tube: http://www.youtube.com.
- Complete the Video Challenge entry form here. Cut and paste your video url into the Video url field on the entry form.
- Entries must be submitted no later than Monday, March 15, 2010.
- Videos should not exceed three minutes in run time.
- All entries must be the original content conceived and written by the student and represent the student’s own thoughts on the topic. No use of plagiaristic creation or published works will be accepted. Incomplete entries or entries that include inappropriate content or language will be disqualified at the sole discretion of the contest administrator.
- Open to students in grades 6-8 in Twin Cities’ area public, private and home schools. One entry per student.
- Students must have parent or guardian permission to participate.
Judging Process: Video Challenge
All eligible entries will receive a prize for submission. All contestants with videos deemed eligible for participation will be required to sign a release form which will be e-mailed upon eligibility. The signed release will need to be returned by fax to the identified contact at Dow Water & Process Solutions. All eligible video entries will be posted to The Dow World Water Day Video Challenge You Tube Channel. The three entries with the highest amounts of total views on The Dow Water Day Video Challenge You Tube Channel as of 8:00 a.m. CST on Friday, March 19, 2010, will be reviewed by a panel of judges from Dow Water & Process Solutions. This panel will select one winning video to receive the grand prize of one (1) Flip Ultra™ camcorder, capable of shooting and sharing more than 120 minutes of video, at an approximate value of $150.00. The top three video finalists will be judged on the following criteria: development of topic, originality/creativity, and grammar/use of language. The winner will be announced on Monday, March 22. The top three video finalists will be displayed on the following websites: www.dowedina.com, www.dowwaterandprocess.com, and The Dow Chemical Company’s You Tube Channel, with the potential for being used in one of the company’s local community ads in 2010.

The participation prize may vary depending on availability and age of student. No substitution of prizes, refunds or exchanges will be allowed. Any costs or expenses associated with entry or applicable taxes will be the responsibility of the participant. By submitting an entry, participant agrees to be bound by these contest rules, and the decisions of the contest administrator, which shall be final and binding. Contest sponsored by DW&PS.
