Rohm and Haas in Japan has been an important market for our company for more than 50 years – over half the lifetime of a company founded in 1909. Early on, we participated in the Japanese market through partnerships and joint ventures, but have operated as an independent organization since 1976. Rohm and Haas Japan posseses mature and leading technologies and an excellent team to serve the local and regional markets. Having a strategic advantage of a strong presence, Rohm and Haas in Japan will continue to play a vital role in our global business footprint.

Today, the Head office is located in Tokyo with more than 400 employees throughout Japan; several different sites service the different businesses:

Soma Plant and Technical Center for Ion Exchange Resins
Ohmiya Lab and R&D for Personal Care and Biocides, Electronic Materials
Nagoya Plant and Technical Center for Acrylic Emulsions; Nagoya Plant & Technical Center belongs to Acrylic Chemical Co., Ltd., which is 100% owned by Rohm and Haas Japan.
Sasakami Plant and R&D center for Electronic Materials.

We also hold our facilities to the highest standards for quality and safety. We fully embrace the principles of Sustainable Development and Responsible Care.

We have three valued joint ventures in Japan. Nichigo-Morton Co., Ltd has been providing the printed circuit board industry with a variety of products such as dry film, process chemicals and machines. Nitta Haas Inc. develops and delivers materials used for chemical mechanical polishing (CMP), and its products such as slurry and pad. The Toyo Morton Ltd. provides adhesives used for dry-lamination in the flexible packaging industry. They will also continue to contribute to our success. These efforts are underpinned by an excellent infrastructure of five manufacturing sites, a research facility, and several key office locations.

With the sophisticated technology, product development capability and knowledge accumulated in Japan, we have continued to provide our customers with various kinds of products suitable to meet their needs across a broad spectrum of industries.
