Poster Contest Winner: 8th Grade
Having a Ball with Chemistry
Lauryn

LAURYN
4th Grade, IA

Lauryn from Iowa has lots of fun...
…doing gymnastics because I get to be with my friends and flip flop all over the floor!  It keeps my body healthy and strong.  I even do gymnastics in my living room at home!

Dr. MarioDr. Mario sees chemistry in the
equipment you wear!
“Gymnastics leotards are made from spandex and other synthetic fibers.  Spandex was invented by a DuPont® chemist in 1959 and is known for durability and exceptional elasticity. So when you flip and flop, it moves with you to make tumbles look easy.”

What You've Won:
Lauryn is our Grand Prize Winner! She was randomly drawn to receive a trip to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. Her prize consists of a ticket voucher worth up to $1,000 on US Airways for roundtrip travel to Philadelphia and free access to the Franklin Institute for her and her parents or legal guardian. She also won a party at a local sports center for a group of her friends for up to $500.

Your school won, too!
Congratulations to your teacher, Ms. Rhonda Thompson. She wins a $500 gift card to Staples® for referring you!

Congratulations also to Carrie Lee Elementary School. Because Lauryn's poster was selected as a winner, your school wins a two-week Club Invention® after-school program from Rohm and Haas. Club Invention is an after-school enrichment program for children grades 1-6 enabling them to think the unthinkable, create new possibilities, and discover innovative solutions through hands-on learning. The rich content and direct skills application are needed to apply science and math principles.
